UK Tax Deadlines Calendar for Businesses (2025/26)

Staying ahead of your tax obligations is crucial for every UK business, especially start-ups and small enterprises. Missing a deadline can result in penalties and unnecessary stress. Key Tax Deadlines (2025/26)

 

1. VAT Deadlines (if VAT-registered):

  • Quarterly VAT Returns: These are due one month and seven days after the end of each VAT period.
  • Example: For the January–March quarter, your return is due by 7th May 2025 

2. PAYE and National Insurance:

  • Monthly PAYE Payments: Must be paid by the 22nd of each month if paying electronically.
  • Year-End Submission: The final Full Payment Submission (FPS) for the tax year ending 5th April 2026 must be submitted by 5th April 2026.

3. Corporation Tax:

  • Payment Deadline: Due 9 months and 1 day after the end of your accounting period.
  • Filing Deadline: Your Corporation Tax return must be filed 12 months after the end of your accounting period.

4. Self Assessment Tax Returns:

  • Paper Submission: Deadline is 31st October 2025.
  • Online Submission: Deadline is 31st January 2026.
  • Payment Deadline: Also 31st January 2026, including any balance owed and the first payment on account (if applicable). 

5. Making Tax Digital (MTD):

  • All VAT-registered businesses must continue using MTD-compliant software to submit their VAT returns digitally.
